Continuing a series of professional accomplishments, Will Larsen, PE has been selected to serve on the Junior Board of Directors for the North Carolina Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The announcement comes less than six months since Larsen was promoted to Regional Manager of The Wooten Company’s Greenville Regional Office.

“I am proud to announce the inaugural ACEC/NC Junior Board of Directors,” said Jim Smith, PE, Executive Director of ACEC North Carolina. “This is the next step in integrating the next generation of leaders from the engineering industry into the only organization that represents the business of engineering and promotes its role in developing the infrastructure for society.”

Larsen graduated from the ACEC North Carolina Future Leaders Program in 2019 and subsequently named by the state chapter as a 2020 Young Professional of the Year.

“I speak for our entire leadership team when I say we are beyond proud to see Will take yet another stride forward in his career,” said Gary Hartong, PE, President of Wooten. “He has made significant contributions to community infrastructure in Eastern North Carolina and will add value for our industry association members as well.”

Notably, Larsen led infrastructure improvements on the Kingsboro Industrial Park in Edgecombe County. The $13 million project upgraded capacity for a new megasite that is projected to support thousands of jobs and contribute broadly to economic development in the region. It won an ACEC North Carolina Excellence in Engineering Award in 2020.

“My involvement with ACEC to date has better-equipped me to navigate engineering projects and achieve my own goals,” Larsen said. “I am grateful for this opportunity to learn, contribute, and represent Wooten on a statewide level.”

Born and raised in Rockingham, Larsen is a life-long North Carolina native. After earning a BS in Civil Engineering from the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at NC State University, he continued there to earn his Master’s in the field. Larsen started with Wooten in 2010 as a summer intern. He lives in Greenville with his wife Heather and their two children.

Founded in 1936, The Wooten Company is a multidisciplinary engineering firm headquartered in Raleigh. In addition to Greenville, Wooten also has regional offices in Winston-Salem, Wilmington, Hickory, and Columbia. The company offers a full range of civil and mechanical engineering, architecture, and geomatics services.
