The Village of Misenheimer and Towns of Richfield and New London were awarded $20,000.00, matched by an additional $10,000 in local funds, to develop a corridor design for a The Culp Road Trail, a portion of the Carolina Thread Trail. The Wooten Company assisted the local communities in completing right-of-way survey, topographic survey, and trail design, including location along the right-of-way as well as configuration of drainage and grade modifications. Careful communication was maintained with the local Division of NCDOT to ensure concurrence throughout the design effort. The Wooten Company provided required documentation to request formal encroachment from the NCDOT and responded to NCDOT’s comments, which required adjustments to the final design documents in order to accomplish the intended goals of the local municipalities and receive final approval of the NCDOT, which was received in 2014.
The Carolina Thread Trail provides more than 2.3 million people with access to natural areas and recreational paths for running, hiking, biking, paddling, walking and more.
