This 19,010 square-foot facility on the campus of Richmond Community College features a nurse training center that houses teaching classrooms, computer classrooms and a 100-seat community room, and a vocational training center that houses classrooms to teach HVAC mechanical system repairs, welding and steel fabrication. The vocational training area is connected to an outdoor teaching area and indoor classrooms and is also connected to the main classroom building with a covered walk.
Our teams performed a complete programming analysis to determine the needs for the nursing and industrial arts curriculums and was responsible for the architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil and site design, including landscape architecture for the project. Specific features included glass enclosed entrances and the covered walkways connecting the main classroom building and the vocational training center. We also designed extensive landscaping that includes wetlands and bioretention ponds to control stormwater.
